Assistant Director of Endpoint Management

The Assistant Director of Endpoint Management is a leadership role responsible for defining, advancing, and driving adoption of endpoint management services across the University. This position serves as the service owner for enterprise endpoint management, with end-to-end accountability for strategy, delivery, adoption, and outcomes to ensure devices across Grounds are securely managed within centrally supported platforms. This role leads two key functions:

  • The Enterprise Endpoint Platform Team, responsible for the design, engineering, and innovation of Microsoft and Apple endpoint management platforms
  • A team of Systems Administrators, responsible for delivering and operating endpoint management services in partnership with distributed IT organizations

Responsibilities include:

  • Security & Compliance Leadership

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Significant experience supporting endpoint management platforms and enterprise desktop environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and business relationship management.
  • Experience leading technical teams, initiatives, or enterprise IT services.

Skills and Competencies include:

  • Strong knowledge of endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, Jamf, SCCM, or similar platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management practices.
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and decentralized organizations.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • ITIL, Jamf, Microsoft Certified:
    Endpoint Administrator, or related certifications.
  • Experience working in higher education or other complex decentralized environments.
  • Experience supporting instructional, research, or enterprise computing environments.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into execution.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and change management capabilities.
  • Ability to influence and drive adoption across multiple stakeholder groups.

This position primarily involves sedentary work using standard office equipment and technology. Occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 pounds may be required. Salary range is commensurate with education and experience. Position is full-time, exempt, and based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Hybrid work arrangements may be available.
