E&M Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Strategic Wargaming Specialist to join our team in Charlottesville, VA in support of NGIC. NGIC is the Defense Department’s primary producer of ground forces intelligence. NGIC produces scientific and technical intelligence and military capabilities analysis on foreign ground forces required by war fighting commanders, the force modernization and research and development communities, Department of Defense, and national policymakers.
Job Responsibilities- Design, develop, and execute advanced red-on-green operational and tactical wargames supporting U.S. Army training, experimentation, capability development, and operational analysis.
- Create game systems and mechanics that accurately model land, air, maritime, space, cyber, and information domain interactions, force employment, and battlefield dynamics.
- Build decision models, behaviors, and courses of action grounded in current adversary threat doctrine, force structure, capabilities, and U.S. Army doctrine/mission command principles.
- Design robust combat resolution systems, adjudication methods, and campaign-level decision frameworks to ensure realistic and defensible game outcomes.
- Implement advanced analytical frameworks—including Nash equilibrium, sequential games, utility analysis, signaling/deception, and multi-agent competition—to model complex military interactions.
- Evaluate player decision-making, operational constraints, and game results to deliver actionable, data-driven recommendations to senior Army leadership.
- Translate complex operational plans (OPLANs), CONOPS, and military scenarios into playable structures covering near-peer competition, Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO), and irregular warfare.
- Lead workshops, tabletop exercises (TTX), and design sessions with military subject matter experts, program offices, Army Centers of Excellence, and senior government stakeholders.
- Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and AI teams to integrate wargames into M&S environments and build AI-enabled Red Force decision agents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 Years of experience or 12 yrs relevant experience in professional military wargaming, defense analysis, operations research, military simulation development, strategic planning, or commercial strategy gaming.
- Demonstrated experience designing adjudicated, seminar, matrix, tabletop, computer-assisted, or simulation-based wargames.
- Demonstrated experience directly supporting U.S. Army, Joint, DoD, or NATO organizations.
- Comprehensive understanding of U.S. Army doctrine, Multi-Domain Operations (MDO), mission command, operational art, campaign design, and threat/adversary force employment.
- Strong working knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP), Joint Planning Process (JPP), and Course of Action (COA) analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise applying game theory principles and strategic competition frameworks to complex, competitive decision environments.
- Experience creating complex, defensible game mechanics and combat resolution/adjudication systems.
- Familiarity with military modeling and simulation (M&S) tools alongside knowledge of probability, statistics, and operational analysis techniques.
- Ability to clearly document game rules, system mechanics, operational scenarios, and analytical findings for diverse audiences.
