Job Summary Sun Tribe EPC (Sun Tribe) is Virginia’s premier utility-scale solar design and build firm, specializing in sub-20MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. Our construction efforts are focused throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and neighboring states. The Project Management team is responsible for planning and executing projects pursuant to turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements.
The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and directing all aspects of assigned projects, managing schedules and resources, and proactively controlling risks and changes. This role establishes and maintains strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, host facilities, and internal teams. The Project Manager may oversee more than one project concurrently.
The Project Manager reports to the Senior Vice President, Project Management Operations.
Responsibilities- Lead the planning and execution of assigned EPC solar projects from mobilization through closeout, ensuring safe, compliant, and high quality delivery.
- Champion a safety first culture by ensuring all HSSE systems and processes are consistently followed on every project site.
- Own project performance across schedule, quality, and financial outcomes, including responsibility for project budgets and profitability.
- Translate EPC contracts, scopes of work, and developer requirements into clear execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate and guide project teams, including Assistant Project Managers when assigned, to ensure priorities are clear and work is executed effectively.
- Actively manage project schedules, labor, equipment, and materials to maintain progress and address issues proactively.
- Partner with Preconstruction, Engineering, Quality, and Accounting teams to support accurate budgeting, forecasting, and execution.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure performance aligns with contractual, quality, and safety expectations.
- Monitor project costs and cash flow, identifying risks, mitigation strategies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support change management by evaluating, negotiating, and administering client and subcontractor change orders.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing clear communication, regular reporting, and effective project coordination.
- Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, business, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum four years of project management experience
- Hold or be in the process of obtaining Project Management Professional or Certified Associate in Project Management certification and Procore certification.
- Current, valid Driver’s License, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to leverage CPM scheduling tools such as MS Project and construction management platforms such as Procore
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and delegate effectively within a team environment
