The Senior Communications Strategist, Health Information Technology serves as the primary communications partner for a large Health IT division within an integrated health system. This role translates IT strategy and initiatives into clear, compelling communication for internal and external audiences, highlighting initiatives, success stories, and innovations. The strategist elevates executive messaging, embeds structured communication planning into major initiatives, and builds repeatable tools that drive clarity and consistency across the organization.
By ensuring initiatives that support operations, empower stakeholders, and advance innovation are communicated with credibility, the strategist helps establish a strong and recognizable IT identity that reinforces engagement and shapes culture over time.
The Senior Communications Strategist, Health Information Technology will operate with a high degree of autonomy, and the ideal candidate understands how to translate complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging narratives for diverse audiences.
Responsibilities include application of internal communications principles, efficient project management, quality content creation, excellent interdepartmental communications, and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet demanding deadlines with a variety of stakeholders and teams.
What You'll Do:- Serve as the strategic communications lead for the Health IT division, ensuring communication strategy is consistent and reflects the organization's strategic vision
- Partner with IT and executive leaders to develop board-level materials, executive presentations, and strategic messaging
- Develop and execute communication strategies that support Health IT initiatives, priorities, that are aligned to organizational and divisional goals
- Strengthen awareness and understanding of IT initiatives among internal stakeholders and translate complex technical initiatives into compelling narratives for diverse audiences
- Create and manage division-wide internal communications, including newsletters and leadership updates
- Manage communication projects endtoend, including creative planning, drafting, editing, stakeholder approvals, and delivery
- Develop printed, digital and social content that enhances visibility and reinforces key priorities
- Establish consistent messaging frameworks and templates to improve clarity and efficiency
- Write, edit, and distribute high-quality communication materials including newsletters, articles, announcements, intranet content, presentations, talking points, and success stories
- Work proactively and collaboratively across UVA Health to develop and cascade internal communications that are well integrated into overarching organizational communications plans
- Develop collaborative partnerships with other internal communications teams as well as with media relations, digital strategy, content, and social media teams to ensure communications are aligned and consistent internally and externally
- Manage multiple projects independently, balancing long-term strategy with timely execution
- Ensure compliance with editorial guidelines and visual standards

- Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing - Experience:
