The mission of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is to improve food security through equitable access to good nutrition and the resources that support health and well-being.

The Community Programming Coordinator is a new role on our Programs team and will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation and evaluation of   AFB community programming:
Mobile Food Pantry (MFP), Neighborhood Produce Market (NPM), and Emergency Food Box (EFB).

This role will serve as program lead, and liaison between partners, volunteers, guests and the Food Bank for Mobile Food Pantries, Neighborhood Produce Markets, and Emergency Food Boxes. The CPC will build and maintain relationships with partner site coordinators, facilitate scheduling, logistics and implementation in collaboration with other BRAFB teams, maintain administrative oversight of community distribution programs, including program compliance with annual site monitoring, as well as conduct annual guest and partner feedback surveying in collaboration with other BRAFB teams.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience in program coordinating, logistics, and implementation (professional or volunteer role) with proven organizational and time management skills required.
  • Experience supervising and/or training groups of people or volunteers desired.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with computer programs including database management, spreadsheet, and word processing skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft products including, e.g., Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage onsite questions, concerns, and requests from program partner volunteers and guests effectively, calmly, and confidentially.
  • Must be able to employ a high level of adaptability, flexibility, and multitasking both in the field and in the office.
  • Ability and willingness to work regularly outdoors at community distribution sites. Depending on program needs, approximately 50% of the workweek may be spent supporting Mobile Food Pantries, Neighborhood Produce Markets, and partner sites, particularly during the first year.
  • Experience in nonprofit desired.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Significant driving and travel throughout the service area is required to perform administrative and programmatic functions at branch locations and program sites. The Food Bank provides fleet vehicles for work‑related travel whenever available, although occasional use of a personal vehicle may be required in accordance with organizational policy.

The hiring range for this position is $22.00 to $24.28 per hour, depending on experience.

The Community Programming Coordinator role is a full-time position offering an effective and healthy work culture, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits. This position is based, preferably, in Charlottesville, VA, and reports to the Senior Manager of Programs, and requires some evening work.
