We're seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Community Center Supervisor to lead the daily operations of the Mary Williams Community Center in Charlottesville. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, building community partnerships, planning engaging programs, and making a lasting difference in the lives of older adults.

What You’ll Do

As the Community Center Supervisor, you'll oversee all aspects of center operations while creating an environment where participants feel welcomed, valued, and inspired to stay active and engaged.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Mary Williams Community Center.
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate engaging recreational, educational, wellness, and social programs.
  • Supervise and support center staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Ensure safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities for participants, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Oversee congregate meal service and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Promote health and wellness programming, digital literacy, lifelong learning, and social engagement.
  • Recruit new participants and promote center activities throughout the community.
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, volunteers, and local partners.
  • Represent JABA at community events and outreach activities.
  • Monitor program outcomes, maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and support continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and responsible use of program resources.
  • Collaborate with other JABA departments to expand services and enhance participant experiences.
What We’re Looking For

We're searching for an organized, energetic leader who is passionate about serving older adults and building strong community connections.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience coordinating programs, supervising staff or volunteers, or managing community-based services.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology used for communication, reporting, and virtual meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with older adults or community-based programs.
  • Experience supervising employees and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of health promotion, senior programming, volunteer management, or nonprofit operations.
  • Experience planning events, outreach, or community engagement initiatives.
