Position Summary
The Director of Mission Investment & Communications serves as a strategic and collaborative leader, advancing Piedmont Housing Alliance’s mission through resource development, fundraising, communications, and community engagement. As a member of the Stewardship Team, this position plays a key leadership role in shaping organizational strategy, strengthening cross-departmental collaboration, and ensuring the Mission Investment & Communications (MIC) team effectively supports the broader goals and priorities of the organization.

The Director is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team that cultivates meaningful relationships with donors, funders, community partners, and stakeholders while overseeing comprehensive fundraising, communications, and grant strategies. Working collaboratively across departments and grounded in Piedmont Housing Alliance’s core values of home, justice, respect, hope, and community, this role ensures that resource development and communications efforts are aligned with organizational priorities, elevate PHA’s impact, and secure the resources necessary to sustain and advance its mission.

Job Duties

The Director of Mission Investment & Communications essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Resource Development:
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications and resource development plan, in partnership with the Executive Director, Stewardship Team, Board Mission Investment Committee, and others, including:

Philanthropy:
– Identify, cultivate, and solicit small and major donors, including maintaining donor lists; managing donor acknowledgments; promoting planned giving opportunities, annual giving programs, and activities and events to support community engagement and fundraising goals.
– Ensure success by meeting established fundraising goals.
– Communicate fundraising goals throughout the organization and empower team members to participate in accomplishing Piedmont Housing Alliance’s annual fundraising goals.
Grant Writing
– Oversee identifying, writing, submitting, and reporting for grants from local, state, and federal government; private, corporate, and family foundations; and other philanthropic institutions.
– Collaborate with internal departments to identify funding opportunities that advance organizational priorities.

Communications
– Oversee internal and external communications through newsletters, the website, social media, advertising, media relations, and other communication channels that strengthen community engagement, fundraising opportunities, and organizational visibility.
– Develop and publish the organization’s Annual Report.
– Tell the story of Piedmont Housing Alliance by highlighting the organization’s impact, residents, programs, and mission.
– Publish internal staff newsletters and organizational updates.
– Ensure consistency in organizational messaging and branding across departments and communication channels.
– Maintain awareness of emerging community issues and relevant trends to strengthen community engagement and position PHA as a trusted community partner.

Mission Investment
– Serve as a thought leader in partnership with the Executive Director, Stewardship Team, and organization leadership.
– Strengthen community support for Piedmont Housing Alliance through strategic partnerships, donor engagement, and community investment.
– Foster meaningful engagement opportunities for donors, volunteers, community partners, and other stakeholders in support of PHA’s mission.
