Job OverviewUVA Health University Medical Center is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join our 20‑bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU). The ICU serves patients who undergo cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation, as well as those requiring mechanical circulatory support devices and ECMO. Nurses care for patients who recover in the TCV ICU post‑operatively, where they stay for a minimum of 24 hours or longer as needed to wean ventilatory support and vasoactive infusions.

- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience:
1 year of relevant experience. - Licensure/
Certifications:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communication, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20–50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
CompensationThe starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Onboarding RequirementsBackground checks and pre‑employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety‑sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
