Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for Cornell 3, our Med Surg Unit. This is a full‑time Day shift position (12‑hour) in Charlottesville, VA. One of the best staffed Medical/Surgical units in the state.
Cornell 3A 24‑bed medical‑surgical unit focused on gastrointestinal care, addressing conditions such as gallbladder diseases, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and procedures such as colon resections and ostomy creation. The unit also cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications, maintaining a patient‑to‑nurse ratio of 1:5 to 1:6. It is an ideal environment for both experienced nurses and new graduates seeking skill development.

The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager, the coordinator leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. They increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
Education- Bachelor of Science Nursing—BSN (required)
- MSN (Preferred)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred
- 18 months of acute care RN experience (required)
- Previous healthcare experience (required)
- Post‑surgical area experience (preferred)
- Same Day surgery experience (preferred)
