Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Main OR Weekend Program (Days 0700-1930)
Join the Weekend Program with UVA Health Main Operating Room Team

The Weekend Program offers a weekend-only shift schedule with enhanced compensation. This program requires a 12-month commitment to work 48 scheduled weekends within a 12-month period, beginning with the first shift worked. Participants receive a Weekend Program Premium of $10/hour.

A travel allowance is available for eligible employees traveling greater than 75 miles one way.

Job Description

The Main OR is a fast-paced, team-based, and technologically advanced environment where critical thinking and hands-on skills are essential.

This role offers a challenging and engaging workplace that will expand your clinical expertise and strengthen interdisciplinary relationships in a critical care setting. You will receive a focused orientation tailored to your experience level, ensuring a strong and efficient transition into practice.

Responsibilities

Perform nursing duties within the Main OR, supporting surgical teams and patients

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care

Uphold high standards of nursing practice and patient safety

Engage in continuous learning and professional development

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a surgical setting; scrub and circulate experience required

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a specific service line:
Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, or Neuro

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Commitment to excellence in patient care and professional growth

Additional Information

Candidates hired into this role will not participate in the Periop 101 program. Instead, they will complete a shortened, competency-based orientation developed by the education team at UVA Health Main OR. Orientation length will vary based on the candidate's experience and skill level. Scrub experience is preferred.
