Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Women's Services Float Pool - All Shifts
Make an impact where life begins, and expertise truly matters.

At UVA Health, Women's Services nurses do more than support births. They care for families at their most vulnerable, collaborate across highly specialized teams, and practice at the top of their license in one of the region's most advanced academic medical centers. The Women's Services Float Pool RN role is designed for experienced nurses who thrive in complexity, value variety, and want to work across the full continuum of mother and baby care.

If you bring prior NICU and Labor & Delivery experience and are energized by caring for patients across multiple high-acuity environments, this role offers a rare opportunity to broaden your clinical footprint while staying rooted in a mission-driven, Magnet-recognized nursing culture.

The Role

As a Women's Services Float Pool RN, you will provide expert nursing care across NICU, Labor & Delivery, and Mother Baby units
, supporting staffing needs while maintaining exceptional clinical and patient experience standards.

This is a hands-on, fast paced role ideal for nurses who enjoy clinical diversity and seamless collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

In this role, you will:
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to mothers, newborns, and families across NICU, Labor and Delivery, and Mother Baby units.
  • Utilize prior NICU and Labor and Delivery experience to confidently support a range of patient acuity and clinical scenarios.
  • Adapt quickly to unit specific workflows while maintaining continuity, safety, and compassionate care.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, lactation consultants, respiratory therapists, and support staff.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical resource within Women's Services, supporting best practices and patient centered outcomes.
What an average day looks like: Your shift may begin supporting a high-risk delivery in Labor and Delivery, transitioning to caring for newborns requiring specialized monitoring, or float to the Mother Baby Unit to support couplet care and family education. Every day brings meaningful variety, deep professional collaboration, and the opportunity to impact multiple patient journeys in a single shift.
