Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse
For the Freestanding Emergency Department. This is a part‑time Night shift (12‑hr shift) position in Charlottesville, VA.
Up to $10,000 sign on bonus for qualified candidates.
The Free-Standing Emergency RoomIt is a 13‑bed facility seeing about 60 patients a day with a physician and PA on staff as well as additional support including ED Techs. This well‑supported department is centered around teamwork and the patient‑first mindset. In an emergency, quick access to skilled care makes all the difference. Sentara offers access to emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our management team has been long standing and diligent about building a cohesive and dedicated care team to serve the Charlottesville, VA area.
Full‑time nurses have 16 hours of required call per 6 weeks. Part‑time nurses have 12 hours of required call per 6 weeks.
Experienced Nurse OrientationExperienced critical care nurses can expect an orientation period of 10 weeks on the unit.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care‑ teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing – BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- ACLS required prior to completion of orientation
- PALS required prior to completion of orientation
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- 2 years of Emergency Room Experience (Preferred)
- Critical care experience in hospital required
- Manages complex cases in fast‑paced environments
- Communication with patients and providers
