Overview

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the PACU (Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit). This is a part‑time day shift position in Charlottesville, VA, requiring three 10‑hour shifts and designated call. A sign‑on bonus of $7,500 is available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and treat post‑operative patients from radiology, endoscopy, general surgery, urology, complex GYN, neurosurgery, vascular/thoracic, and orthopedic surgery service lines.
  • Work a 12‑bed unit with a 1‑to‑2 nursing‑to‑patient ratio.
  • Complete a 6‑ to 12‑week orientation program.
  • Provide scheduled day shifts and evening, overnight, and holiday call shifts according to the unit’s schedule (one overnight call shift every 6‑8 weeks, approximately six to eight evening call shifts Monday‑Thursday per six‑week cycle, one 24‑hour holiday call shift per year).
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science Nursing (MSN) preferred
Certification/Licensure
  • Registered Nursing License (required)
  • ACLS required prior to completion of orientation
  • PALS required prior to completion of orientation
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
Experience
  • 1‑2 years RN experience
  • Critical care or PACU experience in a hospital required
  • Ability to manage complex cases in fast‑paced environments
  • Strong communication skills with patients and providers
