Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Labor and Delivery

Job Overview

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a full‑time Registered Nurse for the Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Program (LDRP) night shift with required call. Ideal candidates have experience in Labor and Delivery and supervisory/charge roles. Sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates.

Schedule

Three 12‑hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holiday requirements. Every third weekend on Saturday or Sunday. 16‑24 hour required call per six‑week schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for labor, delivery, and postpartum patients, including level 2 newborn care and operative recovery.
  • Cross‑train into postpartum and complex GYN/breast surgical needs.
  • Charge/supervise the nursing team and coordinate patient care.
  • Monitor and respond to patient status changes using electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and other interventions.
  • Maintain patient safety protocols and documentation.
  • Communicate with patients and providers.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nursing license (RN) required.
  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Certification in Women’s Care – Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire.
  • NRP, BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) experience preferred.
  • Certified Obstetrics Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience in women’s health; charge/supervisor experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety protocols.
