Nursing Professional Development Clinical Leader - Ambulatory Operations

As an Ambulatory Nursing Professional Development Clinical Leader, your work directly influences how nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel develop, adapt, and thrive in a rapidly evolving care environment.

The position blends clinical credibility with educational leadership, supporting ambulatory teams through new initiatives, technology adoption, and professional growth. Your days are dynamic, relationship‑driven, and highly impactful, balancing planning with hands‑on engagement.

• Partner with clinical and operational leaders to support new projects, workflows, and equipment rollouts, contributing to thoughtful project planning and implementation.
• Design and deliver engaging education plans, including visual learning tools and presentations tailored to adult learners.
• Provide at‑the‑elbow training in ambulatory settings, ensuring staff feel confident, competent, and supported during change.
• Collaborate closely with Nursing Professional Development to oversee:
  • Orientation programs
  • Nurse residency initiatives
  • Ambulatory‑specific learning courses
• Serve as a trusted clinical resource for nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel by
  • Supporting scope of practice questions
  • Reinforcing competency development
  • Encouraging ongoing professional growth
• Leverage Epic proficiency to support training, workflow understanding, and education alignment.
• Apply strong organization and attention to detail to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining high standards.

• Education:
  
  BSN required;
  Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field required; DNP, EdD, or PhD preferred.
• Education program design and evaluation experience required; knowledge of adult education principles required.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
• Preferred:
  Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in a patient care setting;
  Three years of experience with orientation and education of staff in a clinical setting.
• Licensure:
  Must be a registered nurse and currently licensed to practice in the State of Virginia;
  Certification in specialty area preferred.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

The starting base rate for this role is $74,922.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
