Overview
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a part‑time Registered Nurse for the Labor Delivery and Recovery Program (LDRP). The role is a night shift position with required call. Preferred applicants will have experience in Labor & Delivery and will cross‑train into postpartum. Those with prior charge or supervisory experience are ideal.
Hours and ScheduleTwo 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays. Every third weekend falls on Saturday and Sunday. Required call is 16–24 hours in a 6‑week cycle.
Sign‑On BonusUp to $10,000 sign‑on bonus available for qualified candidates.
Low‑Intervention Maternity Service Line- Low Cesarean rate: 21.5%
- High exclusive breastfeeding rate: 85%
- High patient satisfaction score: 89%
- 11 private birthing rooms with Jacuzzi tubs; 2 triage rooms; 1 dedicated obstetric OR; and 2 bed OB PACU
- Newborn nursery and 7‑bed Level II special‑care nursery
- 24 private mother/baby and women’s services rooms
- Lactation services available 7 days a week
- Approximately 100 employees across clinical and support roles
- RN retention rate: 98%
- Lowest cesarean rate in Sentara system: 18%
- Registered Nursing degree or diploma
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Women’s Care – Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire
- BLS within 90 days of hire Registered nursing license required
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) preferred
- Certified Obstetric Nursing preferred
- At least 2 years acute‑care RN experience in women’s health preferred
- Experience in charge/supervisory roles preferred
- Labor & Delivery specific experience preferred
- Strong understanding of patient safety protocols
- Ability to manage complex cases in fast‑paced environments
- Excellent communication with patients and providers
- Willingness to work night shift
