This role offers the flexibility of a wage position within a high-acuity, 30-bed neuroscience unit. You will work alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions while maintaining control over your schedule.
RoleAs a Registered Nurse on 6 West, you will practice in a fast-paced acute care neuroscience environment that blends advanced clinical care with meaningful patient and family interactions. This unit supports patients across neurology, neurosurgery, stroke, and neuro-trauma populations, creating a dynamic and intellectually engaging practice setting.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, interventions, care coordination, and patient/family education
- Care for patients with conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, seizures, brain tumors, hydrocephalus, and multiple sclerosis
- Deliver care across neurology, neurosurgery, and neuro-trauma service lines, with occasional exposure to additional patient populations
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care
- Utilize core clinical skills such as advanced physical assessment and safe medication administration
- Wage role with six 12‑hour shifts within a 6‑week scheduling period
- No on‑call requirements
- Opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on your availability
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience:
1 year of relevant experience. - Licensure:
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull 20–50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $39.90–$53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
