* As an
** Inpatient Charge Nurse** , you will play a pivotal role in coordinating unit operations, supporting frontline staff, and ensuring seamless, patient-centered care delivery for both mothers and infants. You will balance clinical responsibilities with leadership duties, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
This role demands strong clinical judgment, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and high-performing team environment.
On a typical day, you will:
+ Lead and coordinate patient care activities across Mother Baby and Antepartum populations
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
+ Provide real-time clinical guidance and escalation support in complex patient scenarios
+ Assign patient care based on acuity, staff skill mix, and evolving unit needs
+ Support admissions, discharges, and patient flow to optimize throughput and patient experience
+ Mentor and coach nursing staff, reinforcing best practices and evidence-based care
+ Collaborate closely with neonatal and pediatric teams, especially in high-risk maternal or newborn cases
+ Maintain a visible presence on the unit, ensuring quality, safety, and patient satisfaction standards are upheld

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing BSN/MSN program that will be completed within 5 years of hire.
Experience:
RN Clinician 2 or higher who has been employed on the unit for 6 months or has had previous Charge Nurse experience from another unit/organization.
Licensure:
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body…
