Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit

Overview

Position:
Registered Nurse – ICU (Step‑Down).

Location:

Charlottesville, VA. Shift: Night (12‑hour, full time). Sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates.

ICU/Step‑Down unit: 15 ICU beds and 5 IMCU beds, private rooms equipped with advanced monitoring. Patient population includes neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, nephrology, surgical, and palliative care cases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Maintain standards of professional performance: ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Coordinate care within interdisciplinary rounds, collaborating with critical‑care NP/PA and other team members to add insight to patient care.
  • Document care and facilitate teaching and health promotion for patients and families.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Registered Nursing Diploma or Degree (required);
    Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Licensure:
    Registered Nursing license (required).
  • Certification: BLS within 90 days of hire; ACLS within 90 days of hire (preferred); NIH certification within 6 months of hire (required).
  • Experience:

    2 years acute‑care experience preferred; 18 months critical‑care experience preferred; ICU or Capstone experience preferred.
