Advanced Practice Provider; NP​/PA​/APP- Interventional Cardiology​/Electrophysiology PT

The Department of Interventional Cardiology/Electrophysiology within the Division of Cardiology at UVA Health’s Heart and Vascular Center is dedicated to enhancing care models that increase access, improve health outcomes, and support patients and families throughout Central Virginia. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care for those who undergo interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures within a collaborative, team-based environment. Our interprofessional team includes cardiologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and allied health professionals who share a deep commitment to health equity, innovation, education, and quality improvement.

Part‑time, clinical role based primarily in UVA’s interventional and electrophysiology procedural area. Day shifts, two 10‑hour shifts scheduled Monday through Saturday.

• Provide independent and collaborative care to patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures.
• Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing management of patients with cardiovascular disease.
• Support the evaluation and care coordination of patients undergoing cardiology interventions such as diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary and peripheral interventions, endocardial ablations, transvenous, leadless, subcutaneous and extravascular pacemakers and defibrillators, and left atrial appendage occlusive device implants.
• Perform direct-current cardioversion.
• Participate in pre‑procedural screening, education, and post‑procedural follow‑up care.
• Manage common pre‑ and post‑procedure complications like hypertension, hypotension, bleeding, angina, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias and respiratory distress.
• Collaborate with interventional cardiology/electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, imaging, and other subspecialty teams to ensure coordinated, high‑quality care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatment options, and procedural care.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow‑up care.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and adherence to UVA Health documentation and compliance standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and program development initiatives.
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts, research, and/or educational outreach within the department of interventional cardiology/electrophysiology.
• Contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance care models that increase access and improve outcomes.
• Participate in divisional and departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Provide mentorship and education to students and new staff members.
• Advocate for access to healthcare through community partnerships, outreach, and systems-based improvement initiatives.

• Demonstrate professionalism through effective communication, teamwork, and commitment to UVA Health’s mission and values.
• Participate in interprofessional collaboration with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, care coordinators, social workers, and learners to ensure seamless, team-based care.
• Engage in continuous professional development and educational activities, including teaching and mentoring opportunities within the division.
• Promote health equity, inclusion, and family-centered approaches in all aspects of care delivery.

• Partner with APP and department leadership to optimize patient flow, operational efficiency, and access to care.
• Support implementation of enhanced care delivery models designed to improve patient health outcomes and satisfaction.
• Participate in performance improvement, data reporting, and outcomes tracking for quality metrics.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
