Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Program Coordinator, Pulmonary Clinic
This is a unique opportunity for a clinically experienced RN to step into a program-level leadership role that directly influences patient outcomes, quality performance, and the future of pulmonary care delivery. Within a highly specialized clinic environment, this position bridges clinical expertise and operational excellence to advance care for patients with complex respiratory conditions.

In this role, you will move beyond traditional bedside nursing into a position where your clinical judgment, analytical skills, and leadership drive measurable improvements across an interdisciplinary program. You will play a central role in shaping care delivery models, improving patient experience, and supporting evidence-based practice within UVA Health's Pulmonary Clinic.

The Role

As a Clinical Program Coordinator, you are both a clinical leader and operational strategist, ensuring program performance meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient-centered care. Your work blends collaboration, data analysis, and quality improvement, with a strong focus on advancing outcomes across the pulmonary population.

In an average day, you will partner closely with physicians, APPs, nurses, and allied health professionals to evaluate program performance and implement improvements.

* Oversee clinical program performance metrics, including quality, safety, access, patient experience, and operational outcomes

* Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities

* Lead and contribute to Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives using Lean methodologies

* Serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for providers, staff, and leadership

* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize workflows and enhance care delivery models

* Support development and maintenance of evidence-based protocols, guidelines, and policies

* Coordinate regulatory readiness and accreditation activities, ensuring compliance and program integrity

* Present actionable insights and performance data across clinical and leadership forums

* Contribute to scholarly, research, or program development efforts where applicable

This role is primarily focused on program oversight and improvement rather than direct patient care, offering a different pace and level of influence compared to traditional RN roles.

The Pulmonary Clinic stands out as a highly specialized, academically aligned program focused on managing complex respiratory conditions such as COPD, bronchiectasis, and sarcoidosis. Care delivery is grounded in evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

* Work within an integrated, team-based care model alongside physicians, APPs, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists

* Be part of a culture that emphasizes data-driven decision-making and measurable outcomes

* Contribute to initiatives that directly impact quality, safety, and patient experience at a programmatic level

* Engage in a professional environment that fosters continuous learning, innovation, and shared accountability

* Experience a predictable weekday schedule with no nights, weekends, or on-call responsibilities

* Benefit from strong alignment with academic medicine, including opportunities to support research and scholarly activity

* Practice in a Magnet-recognized environment known for nursing excellence and professional growth
