Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Full‑Time third Shift Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department in Charlottesville, VA. This is a three 12‑hour shift position with required call.
Work Location and ShiftLocation:
Charlottesville, VA. Shift: Third (Nights) from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Three 12‑hour shifts, 20 hours per week. Required call: 16 hours per 6 weeks for full‑time nurses.
Sign‑On BonusUp to $20,000 available for qualified candidates.
Emergency DepartmentThe Main ED at SMJH sees 70–100 patients per day. Two years of hospital‑based RN experience is preferred.
Orientation- 10‑week orientation period for experienced RNs.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing competent nursing care using the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion and evaluation, ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, resource utilization and environmental health.
Education- Degree or diploma in registered nursing (required).
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Registered nursing licence (required).
- ACLS required prior to completion of orientation.
- PALS required prior to completion of orientation.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire.
- Two years of Emergency Room experience (preferred).
- Critical care experience in hospital preferred.
- Two years of acute care RN experience preferred.
- Experience managing complex cases in fast‑paced environments.
- Strong communication with patients and providers.
- Medical, dental, and vision plans.
