American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool (NICU/PICU) position at a Level I Trauma academic medical center, requiring both PICU and NICU experience and Epic proficiency.
Details- Pediatric float pool position rotating across multiple units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
- Academic teaching hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00), 36 or 48 hours per week
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- 13-week contract
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy
- Active VA RN license or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand before the Wednesday prior to start date)
- Certifications required: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS, and Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate (may be pending at time of consideration; note there is a $185 cost associated)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Comfort and experience with NICU, acute pediatrics, and the pediatric ED required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Travel experience required; candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience may be considered in lieu of travel experience
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of Driver's License and Social Security card required for consideration
- Peds PACU experience is highly preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Preferred certifications include ACLS, APHON, CPHON, and OCN
- Preferred skills include CRRT, ECMO, ICP monitoring, congenital heart disease/repair, post cardiac surgery, and Pediatric CVICU experience
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or internal travelers must have a minimum 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days
- Up to 40 hours of RTO may be approved per 13-week contract; no RTO will be approved during the first 2 weeks of assignment
- Specialty-specific orientation modules are completed during onboarding
