* The Role:

* 4 West Acute Cardiology is a  
** 30-bed acute care unit within UVA Health's Heart and Vascular service line** , delivering care to patients stepping down from the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiovascular ICU, as well as those requiring specialized cardiac therapies.

In this role, you will balance autonomy with interdisciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. A typical shift includes:

+ Conducting  
** comprehensive patient assessments
** and continuous monitoring of complex cardiac conditions

+ Administering medications and managing advanced therapies, including  
** LVAD patients and prostacyclin drips for pulmonary hypertension*
* + Actively participating in  
** daily interdisciplinary rounds** , contributing to clinical decision-making and care planning

+ Providing  
** patient and discharge education
** to support long-term outcomes and care continuity

+ Applying strong  
** time management and rhythm interpretation skills
** to prioritize care in a dynamic setting

This unit maintains a  
** 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio** , allowing for focused, high-quality care delivery.

** Schedule and Shift Details:*
* + Full-time nights:  
** Three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)*
* + Weekend rotation:  
** Every third weekend*
* +  
** No on-call requirements*
