American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Details- Float pool position within a teaching hospital, covering PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
- Cares for pediatric and neonatal critical care patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
- Works 36 or 48 hours per week with block scheduling not guaranteed
- 13-week assignment length
- Requires working every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating required within scope of practice across various pediatric units
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
- Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be comfortable working in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED settings
- Prior float pool travel experience required, though PICU/NICU float pool experience will also be considered
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Provide critical care nursing across multiple pediatric specialty units as part of a float pool team
- Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
- No RTO can be approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to scheduling
- Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
