Job Description & How to Apply Below

Deliver life-changing cardiac care in one of UVA Health's most specialized procedural environments
, where clinical precision, teamwork, and innovation come together to treat complex arrhythmias and improve patient outcomes every day.

This role offers experienced nurses the opportunity to stay deeply engaged in high-acuity cardiovascular care while transitioning into a more structured, sustainable procedural setting. You will practice alongside leading electrophysiology experts in a collaborative environment designed to support both clinical excellence and long-term career growth.

The Role:

In this procedural nursing role, you will work closely with electrophysiologists, fellows, and cardiovascular specialists in a high-volume EP Lab performing advanced cardiac interventions. The environment is fast-paced and technically complex, yet structured in a way that supports consistency and work-life balance.

On an average day, you will:

  • Support 8-10 electrophysiology procedures daily
, including ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator implants, and lead extractions
  • Circulate cases and provide precise, real-time procedural documentation
  • Administer sedation and cardiac medications while closely monitoring patient response
  • Maintain vigilance in high-acuity situations involving complex arrhythmias and device therapies
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across multiple EP labs within a robust cardiovascular program

This position follows a Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM schedule with minimal call expectations, including limited Saturdays and no routine overnight call. It is an excellent fit for ICU, ED, or stepdown nurses seeking greater predictability without stepping away from advanced clinical care.

Why UVA Health:

UVA Health combines the strength of an academic medical center with a highly specialized electrophysiology program, creating an environment where nurses can thrive clinically while maintaining balance. This role is particularly compelling for those looking to deepen cardiac expertise while working in a supportive, team-oriented setting.

  • Predictable weekday schedule with minimal call
, offering a sustainable alternative to shift-based ICU or ED roles and reducing burnout risk
  • The opportunity to transition into a procedural specialty while maintaining high-acuity clinical engagement
, often described as the ideal balance between intensity and stability
  • Exposure to advanced electrophysiology procedures and cutting-edge cardiac technologies
, expanding your expertise in arrhythmia management and device therapy
  • close-knit, highly collaborative team culture where nurses consistently report strong peer support and positive onboarding experiences
  • Work alongside engaged physicians and fellows who are deeply committed to teaching and mentorship
, reinforcing continuous learning and professional development
  • A clinical environment that blends structured procedural workflow with critical care thinking
, allowing you to broaden skills such as sedation management and intra-procedural care
  • Strong interdepartmental collaboration across the cardiovascular service line
, supporting long-term career mobility and growth within UVA Health
  • The opportunity to build a highly specialized skillset in electrophysiology
, positioning you within a growing and in-demand nursing specialty
  • Consistent procedural volume and complexity that supports confidence-building and accelerated clinical mastery
  • A role designed for nurses who value both clinical intensity and personal sustainability without compromise
  • Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
