Make an Immediate Impact in Orthopedic Trauma Care
This is not routine nursing - you will care for patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring complex orthopedic intervention. You will be part of a fast-moving acute care environment where clinical judgment, teamwork, and adaptability directly influence outcomes. For experienced acute care nurses seeking meaningful, team-based work with consistent scheduling and strong support, this role stands apart.
The Role
6 East is a 30-bed primary orthopedic unit specializing in total joint replacement, surgical spine, and orthopedic/trauma patient care. As a high-volume medical-surgical unit, the team delivers evidence-based, patient-centered care to a diverse population while maintaining a strong commitment to clinical excellence and outstanding outcomes.
The unit has achieved prestigious national certifications, including Joint Commission Certification for the Total Joint Replacement Program and the International Geriatric Fracture Core Certification-reflecting a sustained dedication to advancing best practices in orthopedic care.
This is a high-energy inpatient unit caring for patients following orthopedic trauma, surgical repair, and complex musculoskeletal injuries. The team manages patients from admission through early recovery, collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons, trauma services, therapy teams, and case management.
This position is ideal for RNs with acute care experience who value clinical challenge, consistency, and deep exposure to orthopedic and trauma nursing.
What your day looks like:
* Deliver evidence-based nursing care to orthopedic trauma patients in an acute inpatient setting
* Manage postoperative care including pain control, mobility progression, wound management, and neurovascular assessment
* Collaborate with orthopedic trauma surgeons, advanced practice providers, physical and occupational therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
* Respond to changes in patient condition with strong clinical assessment and escalation skills
* Support safe transitions of care through patient education and interdisciplinary coordination
* Perform comprehensive admission assessments and develop individualized care plans
* Coordinate discharge planning and support patients in regaining function and independence
