Job Description & How to Apply Below
Play a critical role in stabilizing and advancing the recovery of patients with complex neurologic conditions in a highly specialized care environment. In the Neuro Intermediate Care Unit, your expertise bridges the gap between ICU-level intensity and step-down recovery, where vigilance, clinical judgment, and timely intervention make a measurable difference every shift.

This is a dynamic, high-acuity unit where you will care for patients requiring advanced neurologic monitoring while working within a tightly integrated neuroscience team. It is an ideal opportunity for nurses seeking to deepen their neuro expertise in an environment that combines clinical complexity, strong collaboration, and academic medicine.

The Role

As an RN on 6 North in the Neuro Intermediate Care Unit, you will provide hands-on care for a complex patient population requiring close observation and specialized neurologic management. The pace is steady and demanding, with frequent opportunities to apply advanced assessment skills and critical thinking.

You will function as a key member of a collaborative care team, supporting patients as they transition from critical illness toward recovery.

This role offers an engaging balance of patient interaction, technical skill, and clinical complexity, making it a strong pathway for nurses interested in advancing within neuroscience or progressing toward ICU-level practice.

On a typical shift, you will:

* Deliver comprehensive bedside care for patients requiring step-down level neurologic monitoring

* Perform frequent, detailed neurologic assessments, recognizing and escalating subtle changes in condition

* Manage patients across a wide range of complex neurologic diagnoses, including central nervous system tumors, complex spine surgery, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, endovascular interventions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, status epilepticus, and central nervous system infections

* Collaborate closely with neurology, neurosurgery, and neurocritical care teams to coordinate and adjust care plans

* Administer medications and therapies requiring precision within a specialized neuro-focused environment

* Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and long-term neurologic care needs

* Contribute to a team culture built on communication, accountability, and continuous clinical learning
