American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring PICU and NICU experience with a VA or compact RN license.
Details- Float pool position covering multiple pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
- Teaching hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend and every other holiday required
- 13-week assignment length
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
- Must float within scope of practice per facility float policy
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending licenses accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
- Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (can submit with certification pending)
- Preferred certifications: APHON, CPHON, OCN
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be comfortable working in NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED
- Peds PACU experience highly preferred
- Previous travel/float pool experience required, though NICU/PICU float pool experience may be considered in lieu
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric specialty units as part of a float pool team
- Skills utilized may include respiratory care (ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ETT/NT suctioning), IV therapy, central line management, and pediatric dosage calculations
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday, up to 16 non-billable hours
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with all RTO to be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
- No RTO approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Disclose any planned vacation time between sign date and start date to help determine an appropriate start date
- Former UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
