American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Labor and Delivery position requiring BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications on night shift.

- High-acuity facility averaging 2,000 deliveries annually with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
- Serves both low-risk (including certified nurse midwife) and high-risk maternal fetal medicine populations
- Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeder/grower patients
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Skills required in fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, isolation precautions/PPE, and triage of obstetrical patients
- Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred
- Experience with newborn assessment and high-risk antepartum care preferred
- Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, newborn care and assessment, postpartum care, and assisting with circumcision site assessment
- May assist with C-section circulation and recovery
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills utilized including starting and maintaining IVs and drawing venous blood
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time planned between offer and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
- Candidates with prior UVA Health permanent staff or traveler employment must disclose this for review; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for return
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers may be considered
