American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and NRP for a high-risk maternal fetal medicine unit.

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a high-volume academic medical center
• Unit averages 2,000 deliveries annually with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
• Care for low-risk patients including certified nurse midwife population and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract assignment
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby unit
• May float to NICU for feeder/grower patients
• Uses Epic EMR system

• Active VA RN license or compact license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Nursys verification required
• Two professional references required

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and antepartum/postpartum care
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage management preferred
• Skills in newborn assessment, neonatal care in the delivery room, and circulating for C-sections preferred
• Triage of obstetrical patients required
• Floating required within scope of practice as clinically appropriate
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to submission
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or as an internal/external traveler must disclose this information
• Former permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation period plus leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• Travelers who reach 365 total assignment days are not eligible to return, regardless of time away
