American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift teaching hospital position requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

• . 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a patient ratio of 1:4
• Patient population includes respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
• Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule from 19:00 to 07:00
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Option for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice as needed

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), tracheostomy care, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management preferred
• Experience with heparin protocols, PCA, and IV insulin/titration protocols preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac preferred
• Experience managing renal failure patients preferred

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, all of which must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for an appropriate start date
• Up to 16 non-billable orientation hours may be required for specialty-specific modules
• Previous employees who worked as permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• Candidates are not eligible to return once they reach 365 total assignment days, regardless of time away
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
