American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and a VA or compact RN license.
Details- 13-week contract in a high-volume Labor and Delivery unit at a teaching hospital
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
- Unit averages approximately 2,000 deliveries annually
- Unit includes 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
- Cares for low-risk patients including certified nurse midwife population and high-risk maternal fetal medicine patients
- Cross-training to Mother/Baby required, with potential floating to NICU (feeders/growers)
- Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Current BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required
- ACLS certification preferred
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Fetal monitoring experience and skill in recognizing/treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns required
- Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, newborn assessment, postpartum care, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- May assist with circumcision site assessment, tubal ligation procedures, and circulating/recovering C-section patients
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed, including to Mother/Baby and NICU
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, all of which must be disclosed prior to consideration
- Any vacation time planned between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed in advance
- Candidates previously employed by the facility as permanent staff or internal/external travelers must disclose this, with a required 1-year separation and leadership approval for rehire
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
