American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring BLS certification, Epic experience, and a VA or compact RN license.

• 12-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Patient population includes respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
• Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Option for 36 or 48 hours per week, though block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy

• RN license (Virginia or compact) required, pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), tracheostomy care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols preferred
• References required for consideration

• Care for patients with complex medical-surgical and telemetry needs, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Manage heparin protocols, PCA, isolation precautions/PPE, and endocrine/metabolic conditions including insulin drip titration
• Work within a 12-bed unit at an academic teaching hospital environment
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, all of which must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• No radius restriction applies to this position
