Description

American Traveler is hiring a Peds Float Pool RN with PICU and NICU experience for a night shift position requiring VA or compact RN license and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Peds Float Pool position floating to PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby units
  • Level III NICU setting at a teaching hospital
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend and every other holiday
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
Requirements
  • Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • Minimum 2 years PICU experience required, with comfort in NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED
  • Previous float pool experience in NICU/PICU required if no direct float pool background
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS
  • Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Peds PACU experience highly preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide nursing care across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
  • Responsibilities may include respiratory care, IV therapy, renal/GU care, oncology support, and medication administration depending on unit assignment
  • Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, recorded in Workday
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
  • No RTO can be approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to start date confirmation
  • Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
  • No radius rule applies to this position
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
