American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.

• 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Patient population includes respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hour options available
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur Evac), tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration

• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit, managing complex diagnoses including renal failure and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Complete specialty-specific modules during orientation, recorded in Workday, with up to 16 non-billable hours allowed
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, all requested time off must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• Any vacation planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or internal/external travelers) must disclose prior employment; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for former staff or internal travelers
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
