American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic experience

• 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• Cares for patients with respiratory illness, renal disease, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Option for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), tracheostomy care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols

• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, PCA and heparin protocol management, and isolation precautions/PPE compliance
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies
• Manage IV insulin drips and titration for endocrine/metabolic patients
• Care for genitourinary/renal patients including those with renal failure
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO allowed per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Longer assignment length available through 01/02/2027
• Previous permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• First-time travelers considered for this position
