Cross posting for floating positions requires the ability to float to various medical-surgical and telemetry units. Staffing needs may include floating across all acute care nursing areas. Potential areas for floating include Geriatric/Palliative Care, Orthopedics & Trauma, Medicine, Surgical, Client, Epilepsy & Stroke, Acute Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Hematology/Oncology, Solid Organ Transplant, Thoracic Cardiovascular, Digestive Health, Acute Care Special Pathogens Unit, and admitted patients who are boarding in the Emergency Department.
Clinical review and auto-offer process is in place for candidates. Night shifts are required. Full-time positions with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed. Every other weekend and every other holiday will be scheduled. Up to 40 hours of time off may be approved. Candidates must adhere to the floating policy. A pending Virginia license is acceptable if obtained before the required date.
Candidates must exhibit skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry. The patient-to-nurse ratio for the night shift is approximately 4.5 patients per nurse.
