American Traveler is hiring a Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum RN for a night shift assignment requiring Epic experience and willingness to float to NICU Level II nursery patients.

• Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit within a hospital setting
• Care for antepartum, high-risk antepartum, postpartum, and Level II Special Care Nursery patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 36 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
• Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday) and every other holiday required
• Float required within skill set, including to NICU for Level II nursery patients, including tube feedings
• Epic EMR required

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS and NCC-EFM certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, and administration of blood & blood products
• Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC) preferred
• Competent in fetal monitoring (EFM), NST, and antepartum assessments
• Skilled in postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, breastfeeding support, and couplet care
• Experience with newborn care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and discharge teaching
• Experience managing high-risk medications such as magnesium sulfate, pitocin, insulin drips, and antihypertensives

• Provide comprehensive antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care including assessments, medication administration, and patient education
• Support couplet care model between mother and baby
• Care for newborns with conditions such as neonatal abstinence syndrome, hypoglycemia, and low birth weight
• Assist with procedures including circumcision care, Foley catheter insertion, and breast pump use
• Provide patient and family education on car seat safety, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Up to 40 hours of RTO may be approved per 13-week contract
• Previous UVA Health employment requires a 1-year separation and leadership approval for permanent staff or internal travelers
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at the facility
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
