Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position on nights requiring a VA or compact license, Epic experience, and prior Med/Surg background.

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care, IV therapy, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and renal management preferred

• 26-bed General Medicine Unit treating respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal conditions
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• 13-week assignment with option for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required, plus 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling not guaranteed
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Must adhere to facility float policy, floating within scope of practice as needed
• Care for patients with a variety of complex disease processes across multiple body systems
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Unable to approve time off around Christmas; maximum 40 hours of RTO per contract
• No radius restriction for this unit
• Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
