American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring NRP certification and a VA or compact license.
Details- Level III/IV NICU setting in a teaching hospital
- Day shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- 1:3 patient ratio
- Uses Epic charting system
- 3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
- 2 of 3 winter holidays required
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of consideration
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can begin process with pending certification)
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Nursys license verification required
- Two professional references required
- Experience with neonatal ventilator management, therapeutic hypothermia, UAC/UVC, and IV therapy required
- Provide high-acuity neonatal intensive care including respiratory management, IV therapy, and central line care
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and chest tubes
- Perform neonatal dosage calculations and administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
- Time off not approved during the first two weeks of the assignment or around Christmas
- Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
