American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and cross-training into Mother/Baby and NICU float coverage.
Details- Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting handling an average of 2000 deliveries annually
- Unit includes 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
- Cares for low-risk patients including certified nurse midwife population and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeder/grower patients
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate required; ACLS preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Fetal monitoring experience required, including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with high-risk antepartum, postpartum care, magnesium sulfate therapy, and postpartum hemorrhage management preferred
- Experience circulating and recovering C-sections preferred
- Two professional references required
- Proof of required certifications required for consideration
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including triage of obstetrical patients and management of labor and delivery
- Assist with newborn assessments, circumcision site care, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
- Support postpartum care following baby-friendly protocols
- Float within scope of practice as required by facility needs
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO allowed per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- Former UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
