American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring Level III NICU experience and specialized certifications.
Details- Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit setting
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
- 13 or 26 week assignment length with October starts
- 36 or 48 hours per week scheduling
- 1:3 patient ratio
- Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level III NICU experience required
- BLS and NRP certifications required (NRP must be in-hand at submission)
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can be pending at submission)
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Experience with high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) required
- Experience with UAC/UVC, central line care, and IV therapy required
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
- Neonatal dosage calculation proficiency required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
- Manage high-acuity cases including therapeutic hypothermia, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures
- Administer IV vasopressors and other emergency medications
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Time off requests are limited to a maximum of 40 hours per 13-week contract and must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Time off is not approved during the first two weeks of the assignment or around the Christmas holiday
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
- Candidates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must disclose this; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
