American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring NRP certification and 2 years of Level III NICU experience.
Details- Level III/IV NICU setting within a hospital environment
- 13 or 26 week assignment length with October start dates
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00), scheduled as 36s or 48s
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays with no time off approved around Christmas
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of submission
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience required
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required skills include neonatal ventilator management, UAC/UVC care, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with central line/implanted line care and IV therapy required
- Two professional references required
- Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal management
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and IV vasopressors
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with all RTO included at time of submission
- No time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Disclose any vacation plans between sign date and start date to determine appropriate start date
- Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- No radius rule applies to this position
- Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, up to 16 non-billable hours
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
