American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and Epic charting experience at a teaching hospital.
Details- 26-bed acute care unit with a diverse patient population, primarily General Surgery and Trauma patients
- Post-surgical patients make up approximately 90% of the unit, with the remaining 10% having medical diagnoses
- All rooms equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry
- Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- 36 or 48 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
- Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line management experience
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry remote monitoring
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and PPE
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
- Provide direct patient care to a surgical and trauma patient population on a busy Med/Surg Tele unit
- Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date
- Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
- No radius rule applies for this unit
