B. Carter Center Immunology Research (CIC) at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks a Laboratory Specialist to join the Sun Lab. The junior‑level position assists with complex experiments, under the direction of the Principal Investigator or senior staff, performing biological, immunological, chemical, or physical analysis.
- Participate in research work involving animal treatment operations, including weaning and genotyping mice.
- Conduct immunology assays such as flow cytometry staining, cell culture, transfection and transduction, and ELISA.
- Prepare support materials, help analyze data and write reports, and assist with literature reviews.
- Record accurate experimental data and maintain logs.
- Stay informed of new laboratory techniques.
- Provide technical and administrative support to research projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of experience; four years of lab‑related experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Self‑guided and creative problem‑solving for experimental and design challenges.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience working with laboratory animals.
The position will remain open until filled.
This position will sponsor applicants already in the US for work visas. It is a restricted position; continuation depends on funding and satisfactory performance.
Location:
Charlottesville, Virginia.
This is a full‑time benefited position.
