Position Overview
The Long Term Memory Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research funded by the National Institutes of Health to define the properties of the retrieval state, a neural brain state that supports access to stored information and influences downstream processing and behavior.
Responsibilities- Develop and analyze scalp electroencephalographic (EEG) research studies.
- Manage data collection for these studies, including supervising graduate students, a research coordinator, and/or undergraduate students.
- Play a central role in writing and disseminating study findings.
- Maintain a safe lab culture, write research papers and grants.
- Help mentor undergraduates and graduate students in the laboratory.
- PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related field obtained by the appointment start date.
- Experience conducting neural research on memory, attention, or related cognitive processes.
- Experience with scalp EEG and/or functional magnetic resonance imaging data collection and analysis, and human subjects data collection is preferred.
- Strong leadership and project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Position is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for additional one-year increments contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
