Responsibilities
Perform experimental design, statistical analysis, lab duties, manuscript and grant drafting, and attend oral and poster presentations.
Other duties may include animal handling, genotyping, tissue harvest, histology and in vivo imaging; cell isolation, cell culture, cell transfection, FACS, confocal microscopy; RNA isolation, qRT‑PCR, protein immunoblotting, and scRNA‑seq prep and analyses.
Qualifications- Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) earned within the previous five years.
- Strong communicator, teamwork oriented.
- Strong basic science knowledge and experience in ophthalmology/vision science and vascular biology.
- Significant experience with animal handling, genotyping, tissue harvest, histology, and in vivo imaging.
- Solid cell biology skills: cell isolation, cell culture, cell transfection, FACS, confocal microscopy.
- Molecular biology experience in RNA isolation, qRT‑PCR, protein immunoblotting, scRNA‑seq prep and analyses.
Primarily sedentary with extensive use of desktop computers; occasional travel required.
Compensation and BenefitsThe projected salary is $62,232
, commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt‑level, benefited position.
This is a 12‑month appointment with possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. The position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on‑site.
