The Department of Dermatology at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine invites applications for a federal‑funded Research Scientist position focused on Cancer Biology and Stem Cell Biology in the laboratory of Dr. Lu Le, Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Le’s laboratory investigates how genetic and microenvironmental factors interplay to regulate tumorigenesis, with an emphasis on identification of the cell of origin and the role of the tumor microenvironment in cancer development. The research involves dissecting cellular and molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis from a developmental perspective using Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) as a model. Findings related to follicular epithelial cells, hair, and hair graying have led to investigations into treatments for balding and age‑related hair loss.
The laboratory offers a rich experimental environment that encompasses both basic and translational research.
