The Department of Neuroscience and the Center of Brain Immunology and Glia at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Scientist or Research Associate to work in the Kuan Lab to investigate vascular factors in neurodegeneration and experimental thrombolytic and collateral circulation treatments, mainly using murine models.
Position SummaryApplicants for this position must have a PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, physiology, or other basic biomedical research fields, and more than 10 years of working experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow or higher. The role involves designing and executing experiments independently with minimal instruction from the lab head.
ResponsibilitiesFull‑time research or scholarship at the university.
Preparation for a full‑time academic or research career.
Teaching junior postdoctoral fellows and supervising research assistants.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. Travel may be required to attend meetings and programs.
Salary RangeSalary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Position Type & Work LocationThis is an exempt position with benefits. The position is restricted and contingent upon funding availability. It is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on‑site.
